Day to Day
Reporting to the Managing Director the Commercial & Packaging Quality Manager is a pivotal role within the business. The role is responsible to oversee quality management across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring excellence from the plant gate to the consumer. Your primary responsibilities include safeguarding consumer safety and enhancing consumer experience and satisfaction by promoting a strong culture of quality and serving as the key reference for all quality-related matters.
The main roles and responsibilities of this position will include the following:
- Quality Improvement Plans – drive initiatives and strategies in line with commercial quality priorities and targets in order to maximize quality/freshness
- Reporting & Monitoring – Monthly reporting on overall quality performance, monitor progress vs target for Freshness, Transit time (gate-in, gate-out), Value Chain Stock and Complaints, and be the local point of reference for shelf-life optimization and harmonization
- Commercial Logistics – working with Supply Chain, you will plan and implement audits, collaborating on initiatives on optimisation of stock management and execution of destruction activities on returned product
- Commercial Copacking Activities – working with commercial copacking team to ensure quality compliance
- Trade Activities – drive relevant discussion with internal departments to resolve issues of unsatisfactory quality performance, assist with forecasting to ensure quality and freshness
- Packaging – includes supplier selection, vendor evaluation, and non-conformity management
- People Management – you will lead the local quality team in line with company policies, and develop the team capabilities
- Other processes include managing budget, operational call centre, withdrawal/recall process, and other quality projects
You’ll Need
You will have a background in FMCG and a solid understanding of production techniques and quality standards in the food industry. With a degree in food science or a related field, you possess an analytical, solutions-focused mindset. Experience in line quality control within high manual production environments is essential. Your strong interpersonal and influencing skills will make you a leader within the business, and you will have a proven track record in team management.
